Pilates Chair

A new apparatus, the same BFF approach. Strength, balance and movement control — in a different dimension.

The basics

What is the Pilates Chair?

The Pilates Chair, also known as the “Wunda Chair”, is a piece of Pilates equipment designed by Joseph Pilates. Its padded seat, spring-loaded pedal and adjustable height allow for a wide range of strengthening exercises in many different positions.

Strength, balance and control

Exercises on the Chair challenge your stability and coordination too. They strengthen the core, the arms and the legs, while the standing movements build the kind of movement control that serves you in sport and in everyday life alike.

How it compares

How is it different from the Reformer?

The Chair moves you in a different dimension: on the Reformer you often work lying down, while here you work against gravity, frequently standing and in deliberately unstable positions. That asks for a different kind of balance and independent stabilisation — while the springs will already feel familiar from the Reformer.

Who it is for

A new challenge. The same mindful movement.

01

If you want to complement the Reformer

Familiar principles, new positions. The Chair brings variety to your routine and helps you apply the control you learned in Pilates under different circumstances.

02

If you want to build balance alongside strength

We build on the coordinated work of the core, the legs and the upper body. In the standing and single-sided exercises, coordination and stability matter just as much as strength.

03

If you like a boutique studio atmosphere

We work in groups of no more than five, so there is time for adjustments, for refinement and for your questions. In the introductory classes you get to know the apparatus step by step.
